The words\u00a0<em>thick <\/em>and\u00a0<em>dense<\/em>, for example, can both accompany the words\u00a0<em>fog, forest<\/em>and\u00a0<em>smoke<\/em>, but only\u00a0<em>thick <\/em>can accompany\u00a0<em>hair<\/em>. This phenomenon is called collocation. The following exercise lists seven adverbs all of which are synonyms of\u00a0<em>very<\/em>. Their use is not random, but they all accompany certain adjectives more frequently than others. Match the adverb and the adjective which collocate most easily.
