Any stamps available?

In a small shop somewhere in the German province, two American tourists were trying to find out where they could get some stamps. They did not speak any German, and the girl behind the counter did not know enough English to understand them. I was next in the queue and offered to help. I asked the girl and told the tourists. When they left, the American lady said, “Good heavens, you speak good German!” I must admit that I felt flattered. (Although I don’t think my German teachers would have agreed).
