One of the slogans of the Heinz company, which for many is synoymous with ketchup, is 57 varieties. The company has used this slogan since 1896. Many think that this is the number of products the company offered when it developed the slogan, but they are wrong. The company’s founder, Henry J. Heinz, once saw an advertisement for a shop which offered twenty-one varieties of shoes. He wanted an even more impressive number but did not bother to count the products the company offered. He simply combined his own lucky number, five, with that of his wife, seven. (Hayes, Justin Cord: The Unexpected Evolution of Language. Avon: Adams Media, 2012)
